We kick off our 11th season with a program of gorgeous music by composers who survived the Great War.
Our cello soloist, Anna Jarvis (she/her/hers), has been a musician for as long as she can remember. Anna began her cello studies at the age of four, and since then has played in a variety of ensembles in a variety of venues. Anna has experience as a principal cellist, an orchestral soloist, a session musician, a founding member of chamber ensembles, a commissioner of acoustic, electroacoustic and multimedia pieces, a composer, a music director, a jazz cellist, an indie rocker, and a drum technician.
Anna’s early years as a cellist were shaped by studies with Mary Starr, Terry Sefton and Ulrika Edstrom, supplemented with masterclasses with Steven Isserlis, Paul Pulford and Shauna Rolston. Anna has performed in venues as diverse as the El Mocambo in Toronto and the Mariatski Cathedral in Krakow, Poland, and in festivals ranging from the Sigmund Chamber Festival in Odense, Denmark to the CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival in New York City. Anna’s recording experience ranges from the concert album release of her solo performance of the Dvorak cello concerto with the London Youth Symphony to featured performer work with JUNO award-winning artists including folk rock artist City and Colour and hardcore punk artist Silverstein. Anna is currently principal cellist with the Milton Philharmonic Orchestra.
