Bartelt van Essen – Treasurer
Bartelt has had a love for music since he was a child, always singing and humming, and playing instruments from the age of 9. Born in the Netherlands, where he started on the cornet, he switched to trumpet when he moved to Canada at the age of 10. He also started piano lessons at this time, and in high school he switched brass instruments once more to trombone. Although now a professional pilot by trade, Bartelt was heavily involved in the music department throughout high school, being part of the concert band, jazz ensembles, and choir. Before joining the Milton Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015, he also played for several years with the Milton Concert Band. Bartelt and his wife have been part of the Milton community for over 18 years and have two children.
