The Milton Philharmonic Orchestra (“MPO”) was founded by well known Music Director Sabatino Vacca and President Jenn Callum in the summer of 2014.

The Orchestra’s debut season consisted of three very well received concerts and a number of guest appearances at private galas and events throughout the season. In December 2014, the Christmas tradition of “Winterlude” was introduced, with beloved soloist Lesley Andrew. Each year moving forward, the MPO will redefine Christmas and Winter in Milton with a Winterlude you’re sure to cherish and adopt as your own family tradition.

The MPO’s successful arrival into the local music world in 2014 surpassed all expectations, and is largely due to the excellence of its founding musicians, and members dedicated to enhancing the Performing Arts scene in Milton.

The MPO is entering it’s tenth season starting with our Fall Colours Concert under the direction of the guest music director Lauren Yeomans. All performances are held at the FirstOntario Arts Centre, Mattamy Theatre in Milton. Each season begins in September and rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7:30 – 10 PM. If you would like to join the MPO please visit our audition page for current requirements and auditions.

The MPO is a membership-based auditioned community orchestra, run by an elected volunteer board of directors. We are a registered charitable, non-profit group, so all membership fees and proceeds are used to sustain the Orchestra’s needs. Membership fees and concert proceeds are used for the following: Conductor, Concert Master, and principal musician fees, acquiring music, rehearsal space, insurance, and other miscellaneous needs, including guest soloists. Our budget and accounting is made available to all members on a regular basis and discussed at a yearly AGM.
