Meeting to explore the possibility of a Milton based symphony orchestra

A meeting to explore the possibility of a Milton based Community Orchestra will be held at the Milton Centre for the arts on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 7 pm.

I recently had the privilege to tour the Milton Centre for the Arts and was absolutely thrilled to see such a beautiful Performing Arts Centre in Milton!
It struck me that along with this new concert venue it would be wonderful to have a Milton based Symphony Orchestra. I was heartily encouraged to explore this further in my conversation with the Centre’s manager, Rob Mackay. “A community based orchestra that would grow with the Town of Milton would be a great cultural asset for Miltonians,” he told me recently.

My name is Sabatino Vacca, I have spent my life in music and among other things I currently conduct the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, and the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra. I would be very interested in heading up a Milton based orchestra. There are many paths that this could take, but the first thing that I would like to do is to hold a general meeting to explore the concept, and guage the level of community interest. To that end I am issuing an open invitation to anybody potentially interested in being involved with a Milton Symphony Orchestra to come out and share your ideas. Starting a Community Orchestra is a big undertaking; we will need players, board members and volunteers, etc.

If you are potentially interested, please contact me to register for the meeting, or if you can’t make the meeting to please feel free to share your thoughts.
